How Much Are the Care Benefits – and How to Use Them Wisely

Print

“I didn’t know what I was entitled to…”

“I used to think the care allowance would only cover some home help. But when I found out it could also pay for day care or assistive devices, it changed my life. It’s a shame no one told me earlier.”

This is something I hear from clients a lot. Many of them receive a benefit but don’t know how to use it properly. Sometimes they’re even afraid to use it at all, worrying it might affect other allowances. This article will help you understand the amounts and possibilities – and you might be surprised by what you can actually cover.

Care allowance amount, mobility allowance Czech Republic, how to use care allowance, assistive devices paid by benefits, ZTP benefits Czechia, tax issues with care allowance – these are all popular searches from people who already receive the allowance but don’t know what to do next. This article gives you the answers.

💶 Overview of benefits and amounts (as of 2025)

🔹 Care allowance (monthly):

  • Grade I – CZK 880

  • Grade II – CZK 4,400

  • Grade III – CZK 12,800

  • Grade IV – CZK 19,200
(For children or institutionalized persons, amounts may differ.)

🔹 Mobility allowance:

  • CZK 550 per month, for persons with limited mobility needing transport

🔹 Special aid allowance:

  • Up to CZK 400,000 one-time, based on individual need

✅ What can you use the benefits for?

These allowances are not only for “home care”. You can use them to cover:

  • compensation for a caregiver (family member or professional)

  • personal assistance services

  • day or weekly care centers

  • transportation to medical appointments

  • purchase and maintenance of assistive devices

  • hygiene or meal-related supplies

📌 You don’t have to submit receipts, but be ready to explain how the benefit is used.

⚠️ Things to watch out for

  • Don’t use the allowance “casually” – if someone files a report or an inspection occurs, your benefits may be reduced retroactively.

  • If you’re not ensuring proper care, the Labor Office might revoke the allowance.

  • If your condition improves, you are obligated to report it – failing to do so may lead to penalties.

👩‍⚖️ Lawyer’s recommendation: Use the allowance wisely – and legally

Many clients worry that hiring a carer under contract might cost them their benefit. That’s not true. Authorities actually appreciate when real care is being provided.

If you’re unsure what’s allowed, contact me. I can help:

  • check your eligibility

  • draft a proper caregiver agreement

  • prevent risks during inspections

Don’t let the money go unused
