Courier Job and Parcel Forwarding: An Innocent Gig? No – It Could Be Money Laundering

“It was supposed to be a side gig – receiving packages and forwarding them. A few per week. Then the police called, saying the goods had been bought with a stolen credit card.”

It sounds like a simple task: someone asks you to receive parcels and “help with logistics” for an online store.
But in reality, you might be unknowingly drawn into a scam.
The packages could contain fraudulently purchased goods, smuggled items, or be part of an organized money laundering scheme.

This scenario may involve money laundering (§ 216 of the Czech Criminal Code), fraud (§ 209), complicity, or aiding and abetting a crime.
If you don’t know what or for whom you are forwarding, you’re taking a serious legal risk.
The police treat these cases very seriously – without clear evidence and explanation, you may face charges.

  • Job offers with no contract – often sent via Messenger or email

  • Your task is to receive parcels and forward them elsewhere

  • Payments are made as “commissions” to your account

  • After a while, you’re contacted by the police or customs

Every forwarded parcel could be part of fraud, stolen payment info, or smuggling.
