How to Find Out Who Is Enforcing an Execution Against You – Step-by-Step Guide

Print

Your bank account is frozen. Your employer is deducting money. But you don’t know why – or who is behind it.

Maybe you missed a letter. Maybe they sent it to the wrong address. Or maybe you never received anything at all – and still, you’re under execution (exekuce). In this situation, many people ask:
Who is enforcing this against me? How do I find out the name of the executor? How can I defend myself if I don’t know who to talk to?

This article will help you quickly identify the executor handling your case – and what you can do next.

📌 This article is part of the complete legal guide for debtors: Debt Enforcement in the Czech Republic – Complete Guide for Debtors (Velký rozcestník)

“how to find out who is enforcing the execution”
“who is the executor in my case”
“why is my bank account frozen”
“wage deduction in Czech Republic”
“how to get details of execution”

If you’re in the dark while the execution is already running, this guide is for you.

What you’ll learn in this article:

– Where to find information about your execution
– How the Central Register of Executions (CEE) works
– What your bank or employer must tell you
– How to contact the executor directly
– What to do if you still can’t find any info

🔎 1. Central Register of Executions (CEE)

An official public register where you can check whether an execution has been initiated against you.

  • Website: www.ceecr.cz

  • You need to know your birth number (rodné číslo)

  • The search is paid (currently CZK 60)

  • You’ll immediately see the executor’s name, reference number, and date of initiation

⚠️ The CEE will not show the amount due or the creditor – but it’s the best starting point.

🏦 2. Ask your bank or employer

If your bank account was frozen or your wages are being garnished, the bank or employer must inform you on what legal basis and to whom they are sending the money.

Ask for:

  • the name of the executor,

  • the reference number of the case,

  • and any available contact information.

Write these down – you’ll need them to communicate or defend yourself.

🧾 3. Contact the executor

Once you know the name and file number, you can contact the executor’s office and request:

  • a copy of the order to initiate execution,

  • details about the case status,

  • and information about how documents were delivered.

If you have a Czech data mailbox, ask to receive documents electronically.

❌ 4. What if you still find nothing?

– The execution may be old and not listed in the CEE
– There may be errors in personal data (e.g. name matches)
– Or this may be a case of wrongful execution – see our article Wrongful Execution

In such cases, it’s best to consult a lawyer who can request the file directly from the executor or the court.

⚠️ Real-life case: a lost letter means lost money

Lukáš was surprised when his employer started garnishing his wages. He had received no notification. Through the CEE, he found out that the executor was based in another region. The court had sent the summons to an outdated address and used fiction of service. With legal help, he managed to partially stop the execution.

💣 Common mistake: waiting for “them” to contact you

They won’t. Execution proceeds even if you know nothing about it. It’s your responsibility to find out what’s going on.The longer you wait, the more you pay – often unnecessarily.

🛡️ Lawyer’s recommendations

  • Find the executor’s name as soon as possible – use the CEE, your bank or employer

  • Do not negotiate by phone if you don’t know who you’re talking to

  • Request documents in writing – you are entitled to them

  • If you find errors or procedural issues – act fast
